In partnership with the Reach Out and Read (ROR) program and UVM Medical Center Pediatrics and Family Medicine Departments, Dana Medical Library will be hosting a children’s book drive. Through December 22, 2021, there will be a big box at the front of the library for donations of new and gently used children’s books that will be donated to Burlington Pediatric Primary Care and Williston Pediatric Primary Care. At these locations, books donated through the Reach Out and Read program are given to children during wellness checkups. Gently-used books are given to older siblings, provided at a sick visit, or simply given to help build a child’s home library. In doing so, Reach Out and Read works to integrate reading aloud and literacy into pediatric care.
This is a great program to support early childhood literacy for our youngest readers. So, if you have some children’s books that could use a new home or if you are interested in purchasing a new book to donate, drop them off at the library!
Children’s books need to be:
- New or Gently Used
- Ages 0 – 8 years of age
